Engineering Farm Visit
12th Mar 2025
Primary 6 & 7 had a wonderful start to Monday morning by visiting Purcell’s farm- this visit was to highlight the different forms of engineering that are used on a farm.
The children loved finding out about the different machines the farmer uses to manage his dairy herd. They all found it so interesting that this milking machine could have information about the cow’s milk for example the amount of protein or fat it contains.
We also witnessed a cow getting a ‘massage’, from a set of brushes. The farmer explained when the cows are happy they give a better yield of milk.
There was a great sense of excitement when the farmer asked the children did they want to hold a lamb, as you can see from the photos below they jumped at this chance.
The children also loved their honeycomb ice-cream at the end of their visit, it was a lovely way to spend the morning.
Thank you so much to everyone at Purcell’s farm , you were all so welcoming and made everyone from St. Matthew’s feel so welcome.
What a great way to start Engineering Week 😊👷👷♂️🐄🐑
